The International Design Experience and Showcase (IDES) is more than just an award ceremony. It is a unique platform that connects design enthusiasts from different parts of the world through immersive and interactive experiences. By showcasing the best of design talent across various disciplines and domains, IDES aims to foster a global community of creative thinkers and innovators. 

Our mission is to create international opportunities for students and young professionals, promoting their talent globally and enabling them to learn from diverse perspectives and cultures. We also inspire and empower the next generation of designers, providing them with the skills, knowledge, and network to excel in their chosen fields and contribute to society. Furthermore, we celebrate and appreciate the value of design, highlighting its role in solving complex problems, enhancing the quality of life, and creating positive change. 

To bridge the gap between young designers and the industry, we provide them with internship opportunities and mentorship from leading design firms and professionals. IDES is the ultimate platform for aspiring designers to showcase their work, network with peers and experts, and gain recognition and exposure.

Patrizio Cionfoli

Patrizio Cionfoli is Director of Design and Interaction at Studio Volpi started his career at Whirlpool as a product designer for home appliances as category head of the design team.His washing machine concept BioLogic was exhibited at the Triennale di Milano, Louvre in Paris and the Design Museum in Beijing.

His work has won many international design awards.Designer of first capsule iconic coffee machine for Lavazza a Modo Mio and first Iconic KitchenAid fridge.

Since 2005 leads global projects and design teams in Italy, USA and China. He is responsible for design strategies that can generate innovation, business growth and impacts brands like Alessi, Illy, Lavazza, Berkel, Midea, Haier, Duracell, Leonardo.He is as coordinator of IF Award Jury member for Kitchen category, ADI commission for territory for “Work” category & Design Wanted Jury Member Patrizio is an international speaker, both in conferences on innovation and design and in various European universities.

Harry Teng

Harry Teng is an industrial designer based in Seattle, WA. He is driven by curiosity and empathy. Teng believes there are underlying threads that unite technology, market demand, art, and design. When aligned and plucked with emotion, the threads give off profound resonance. This metaphorical resonance and harmony can be found in his projects, regardless of format. They take forms in consumer electronics, furniture, medical devices, and public installations. His work deeply considers kinesiology and ergonomics, which he is fascinated by the human body's capacity to engage with space, so that they may embody aplomb, beauty, and ease.

Harry Teng graduated from The ArtCenter College of Design in 2019. He has worked at Fuseproject, a consulting agency in the Bay Area working with clients such as Dyson, Kodak, iRobot, Samsung, and DesktopMetal. He also was a consultant at Branch Creative working with clients such as L'oreal and Fellow. As part of the Google Hardware Team at Mountain View, he worked on mixed reality and AI hardware. He currently works at Microsoft on the Surface Design team as an industrial designer. He works on the Surface core line envisioning the future of personal computing and mobile devices. When he isn't at his day job, he designs minimalist furniture as a hobby and will continue to pursue advancing medical products for those in need.

Claudina Flores

Mexican Designer (1983) specialist in design projects that transcend to the architecture of spaces, the design of environments and the creation of furniture collections. Her training as a designer and architect is extensive, in 2009 she obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design at the TEC of Monterrey, later she obtained a Master's Degree in Architecture and Environmental Design at UNSW Australia (2011), a Postgraduate Degree in Architectural and Object Lighting at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, Barcelona (2017) and is currently Creative Director of her own design firm: ESTUDIO CLAUDINA FLORES. Without a doubt, a creative woman who has been consistent in her work as a designer and architect, +11 years at the head of her homonymous office where she develops projects from a creative philosophy through experimentation methodologies that respond to a purpose and solve user needs. , rescuing the value of Manual Crafts and the Artisanal Manufacturing Process, at each step, reinventing the way of inhabiting everyday space, raising awareness about the impact of design on people's well-being.

For 7 years she has been Coordinator of the Diploma in Interior Design at the Higher School of Architecture / ESARQ based in Guadalajara, and works as a Lecturer at the TEC of Monterrey from the Division of Continuing Education Virtual modality in the Faculty of Architecture and Design, Since then it has had +500 students from different cities in Mexico and Latin America

During my journey I have challenged myself by designing different types of products, working for companies such as Haier and Nestlé. What drives me to travel is the opportunity to learn from amazing people from all over the world and to be contaminated by other cultures, constantly bringing freshness and new perspectives to my projects.

I'm a creative thinker with a playful and inquisitive mind, with a conceptual and holistic approach to design. I value detail and aesthetics when designing, paying great attention to content, context and purpose, in order to deliver results that matter. I strive to tell authentic stories through design, yet with a subtle twist to surprise, thrill and engage my audience.

For over 20 years I have worked with mainly Visual Identity, Branding, Packaging and Spatial Design.

In 2018 I joined Bang & Olufsen’s Marketing Department as a designer and art director. Today I work in the Retail Department as lead creative in the Visual Merchandising Team. I tell brand-, product- and campaign stories through design of windows and in-store displays, for around 350 stores globally. I set and drive strategy and vision for these retail touchpoints, to constantly raise the bar and quality of the brand presentation and customer experience in Bang & Olufsen stores.I’m based in Greater Copenhagen in Denmark where I live with my British husband and our daughter of 10 years.

I was educated in London and lived there for 10 years before returning to Denmark.

Can anyone participate?

Yes! We're a worldwide open contest for Young Professionals.

We're only accepting students from the invited universities, but you can always submit your design in the Young Professionals Category.

Is there an entry fee?

For the 2024 Awards, IDES has invited the students from the following universities in to participate in the student category:

UDLA (EC), UCE (EC), Universidad Católica (EC), La Metro (EC), ESPOL (EC), Tecnológico de Monterrey (MX), CIDI UNAM (MX), IBERO (MX).

Am I a Student, Young Designer or Visitor?

Student - To register, you must be a student at one of the participating universities. Submissions are open to a variety of disciplines including architecture, interior, fashion and industrial product design. 

Young Professional - If you are a designer with less than five years of experience, this category will give you the opportunity of showcasing your skills and challenge yourself against designers from all over the world. To register you will need a valid email. 

Visitor - Get a ticket to attend the various talks and events offered by IDES. To register you will need to a valid email.  

What should I submit?

What are the prizes?

For each category, there will be a Student winner and a Young Professional winner. Each will receive the official IDES award statuine, a public mention, and a gift. 

The Best of the Best Award will be given to the best Student and Young Professional submission overall categories. 

The Best of the Best Student will receive the opportunity for an internship experience with Studio Volpi (Milan, Italy)

The Best of the Best Young Professional will receive an internship with D2P Studio (China) with a potential job offer following it.

Both Best of the Best winners will be awarded an article in DesignWanted magazine.
